Doly Shaontoni was born in 3rd April 1974 in Pabna. In a cultural family, her interest in music grew from her childhood days by her mother Monowara Begum. She was also a popular Folk singer. She started to take music lessons in home in her childhood. Her mother was her first teacher in music. Music was a daily afair in her family. Her brother Badsha Bulbul is also a famous singer in Bangladesh. Her sibling Poly Shaontoni is also a musician. Three out of four of the siblings are connected to the music industry in Bangladesh right now. When she was a kid from then she performed in various kind of cultural programs. She is an amazing performer in stage.
Doly Shaontoni started he career as a child singer in Bangladesh Betar( Government Radio Station) in a radio show named “KolaKakoli”. She had enlisted as a child singer in radio in 1984 only at age of ten. Her first album was released by Milton Khondokar at 1989 when she was fifteen. The name of her first album was “Hey Jubok”. In the same year she debuts her playback career in the movie named “Gherao” which was directed by Masud Parvez. And the music director of the movie was Alam Khan. She gave voice in all five songs in that movie. That was only the start of her playback career. She never had to look back since then. After that her voice has been recorded in over 1400 movie songs. She became favorite to her audience so quickly by her songs and amazing stage performance. Till now, she has released 22 solo album and around 50 mixed albums. Beside that Doly Shaontoni performed in a lot of TV shows and radio shows. Her popularity in stage is beyond imagination.
Doly Shaontoni gave her voice to more than six hundred movie songs till now. Many of them are super hit songs. The songs reach to the hearts of the audience by her lovely voice. As she gave voice to this vast number of songs, it is impossible to name each of them. Among those films “Tomare tomare”, “O Pakhi Re”, “Tui Jodi Hoiti vala”, “Ek Jhak Pakhi” are noted.
She performed in many television programs. The first television show she had performed in was “Kisholoy”. It was a program for the young talents from schools. Her enrollment as a singer in television at 1990. And from then she performed in countless television programs. Some of the famous Television shows where she performed are Ittadi, Anondo Mela, Tarokalok. She performed TV Live Show and Program at almost every Television Channel in Bangladesh.
Doly Shaontoni also acted a Television Drama named “Srabon Esechilo Gaan Hoye” as a lead role.
Doly Shaontoni is happily married with her husband Faizan Azim Khan. She has three Daughters named Nusrat Jahan Khan, Ramia chowdhury Rimjhim, Huzaifa Khan. Her kids and music are the part and parcel of her life. She spends her leisure time doing music. Beside this she is very fond of travelling. She loves to travel and go to new places whenever she got chance.
Doly Shaontoni had done many charitable works. She sang in several charity concerts. She was in the concerts for raising money for Khalid Hasan Milu and Shubir Nandi. Beside this she is always at the side of poor artists and musicians. Doly Shaontoni is very fond of children. helps poor and disable children on her own. She also participates in several kind of social awareness programs for rising awareness to the people. She also tries to inspire people in tree plantation movement.
Doly Shaontoni has been blessed with the love of mass people throughout her career. Even till now, her voice mesmerizes a lot of people all over the country. Her contribution to Bangla music industry and folk song is beyond any calculation.
